This Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra is the deep and profound treasury of the original ground. The text states: 'This dharma cannot be demonstrated; the marks of the world are eternally abiding.' It is that which is realized by the Tathāgatas of the three periods of time. The text states: 'Having known this foremost quiescence and extinction at the place of awakening, by reason of a great matter, they appear in the world.' At first, they see my body and are made to enter the Buddha's wisdom. For those who had not yet entered, for more than forty years, by means of divergent expedient means, [the Buddha] assisted in revealing the paramārtha. Now he frankly sets aside expedient means, speaking only of the unexcelled path.
