If this is applied across the teachings of the five flavors: the milk teaching has three kinds of three wisdoms; the curd teaching has one kind of three wisdoms; raw butter possesses five kinds of three wisdoms; cooked butter also possesses five kinds of three wisdoms; coarse and wondrous can be known. The Lotus Sūtra has only one kind of three wisdoms; this is the refuting purport of the Lotus Sūtra, which is wondrousness through relative contrast. Regarding opening the coarse to reveal the wondrous: worldly wisdom lacks the Dharma of the path, yet wrong characteristics enter right characteristics; managing production and enterprise do not run contrary to the true mark; lowering the head or raising the hand, opening the coarse and revealing the wondrous, all accomplish the Buddha path; how much more so the three vehicles' wisdom of transcending the world! Therefore the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra says: 'Śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas are both real and false. Because they have cut off afflictions, they are called real; because they are not permanent, they are called false.' Ordinary beings have not yet cut off afflictions, having no reality and being purely false, yet even they open the coarse to enter the wondrous, which is the Great Vehicle; how much more so the wisdom of the two vehicles! For the wisdom of the two vehicles, even though their faculties are ruined and their minds are dead, they can still be revived; how much more so the wisdom of the paths! When opened in this way, all are wondrous, and none is not the true mark. The great carts of the seven jewels are limitless in number; this is the Lotus Sūtra's purport of integration, which is wondrousness beyond relative contrast.
