As for Jambudvīpa's existence being destroyed by the like-an-illusion samādhi: in the southern continent, retributions are diverse and lifespans and so forth are unfixed, just like an illusion or magical creation. This means that from the mind, karma is conjured up as an illusion, views and thoughts are conjured up as an illusion, ignorance of phenomena is conjured up as an illusion, and fundamental ignorance is conjured up as an illusion. In order to destroy these illusions, the bodhisattva conjures from keeping precepts the unconditioned, destroying the illusion of fettering karma; conjures from meditation the eight liberations; conjures from wisdom of arising and non-arising the outflow-free; conjures from immeasurable wisdom the with-outflows; and conjures from unconditioned wisdom the neither-with-outflows-nor-outflow-free. When the illusion of views and thoughts is destroyed, the illusion of the true truth is perfected; when the illusion of ignorance of phenomena is destroyed, the illusion of the conventional truth is perfected; when the illusion of fundamental ignorance is destroyed, the illusion of the Middle Way is perfected. Therefore the sūtra says: 'The Tathāgata is a great master of illusion.' If in that Jambudvīpa there are spiritual capacities and conditions that pertain to his vows, through his original compassion he responds according to their stimuli, himself destroying illusions and perfecting for others the various illusions; therefore it is named the like-an-illusion samādhi. The rest is as explained above.
