Scholars of the degenerate age mostly grasp at sūtras and treatises, arguing and disputing over expedient severance and subduing (and so forth). Just as water is inherently cold, how can one know it without drinking it? These are the inconceivable words of the Buddhas in response to conditions; increasing or decreasing according to capacities, the number of stages differs. When you have not yet realized it, what is the point of disputing in vain? May all sentient beings of the dharma realm universally take refuge in the Saṅgha, put an end to dispute, and enter the great ocean of harmony.
