Opening the ten faiths stage of the distinctive teaching is the same as the previous. Opening the ten abodes is the same as the two vehicles, and so forth. Opening the ten practices stage is the same as the shared teaching bodhisattva who emerges into the provisional. Opening the ten dedications stage of subduing fundamental ignorance, this very [state] is the middle; this is called placing poison in cooked curd-butter, which can kill a person. According to the coarse, it is the subtle, which is the semblance stage; if one advances, one determines the subtle according to the stage.
