All sūtras possess the wonder of secretly placing poison, but none yet had the explicit entering of the wonderful through traversing the flavors, nor did they have the explicit resolution of the crude into the immediately wonderful. Only reaching this Lotus [Sūtra] are both meanings present. Riding together in the jeweled vehicle, all open the Buddha's knowledge and vision; the explicit matter is manifested, and therefore it alone is called wonderful—the intention lies in this. Entering the wonderful successively and opening the crude to be immediately wonderful each have two meanings: opening and entering according to one's stage, and opening and entering through advancement. If it is said that fully resolving the śrāvaka dharma is the king of all sūtras, and that having heard it and contemplating it with careful discernment, one draws near to the unsurpassed path, this is revealing the wonderful according to one's stage. Advancing on the path and decreasing rebirths is ascending and entering the wonderful. Therefore, the Lotus alone is called wonderful.
