Fourth, citing evidence: the 'Introductory Chapter' says, 'Now the Buddha emits a bright light, helping to reveal the meaning of the true aspect.' It also says, 'The meaning of the true aspect of all dharmas has already been spoken for you.' The 'Expedient Means Chapter' says, 'Only a Buddha together with a Buddha can fully fathom the true aspect of all dharmas.' In the verses it says, 'The Buddhas' Dharma, after a long time, must inevitably speak the truth.' It also says, 'I, adorned with bodily marks... speak the seal of the true aspect for them.' Śāriputra understood and said, 'The World-Honoured One spoke the real path; Pāpīmān has no such thing.' He also said, 'Peacefully abiding in real wisdom, I will certainly become a Buddha.' The 'Dharma Teacher Chapter' says, 'Opening the door of expedient means, showing the true aspect.' The 'Peaceful and Happy Practices Chapter' says, 'Contemplating all dharmas according to their true aspect.' The 'Lifespan Chapter' says, 'The Tathāgata knows and sees according to reality.' The *Samantabhadra-dhyāna-sūtra* says, 'Formerly on Vulture Peak, extensively expounding the path of the one reality.' It also says, 'Contemplating the realm of the one reality.' Therefore we know that the Buddhas appear in the world for the sake of the one great cause: solely to enable sentient beings to open the Buddha's knowledge and vision, and to see this principle of the one reality that is neither cause nor fruit. The sūtra text is right here; it can serve as clear evidence.
