Ninth, being skilled in calm endurance: being able to calmly endure internal and external obstacles, both hard and soft, without destroying the contemplating mind. If one contemplates that saṃsāra is nirvāṇa, one will not be shaken or destroyed by the spheres of the aggregates, sense entrances, realms, illnesses, karma, demons, dhyānas, the two vehicles, bodhisattvas, and so forth. If one contemplates that defilements are bodhi, one will not be shaken or destroyed by the spheres of various false views and excessive pride.
