初中云「王」字，去聲，謂起也、初也。序起眾文之始，故云「序王」。就初序為二：初總攬五義以釋名，次「記者」下就總名以別解。

In the first part, the word 'King' is in the departing tone, meaning arising or initial. A preface arises at the beginning of all texts, hence called the 'Preface King'. Regarding the first preface, it has two parts: first, generally gathering the five meanings to explain the name; next, from 'The recorder' downward, explaining them individually according to the general name.
