1.46

四結中云「是以先標」等者，總結六譬。非蓮華無以譬於權實本迹妙法，非此妙法無以取喻於蓮華，如《金剛經》則喻先法後，今且順此故云「是以」等也。

In the fourth [part], the conclusion, "therefore first marking..." and so forth generally concludes the six metaphors. Without the lotus, there would be no way to metaphorize the subtle Dharma of the provisional and real, origin and traces; without this subtle Dharma, there would be no way to take the lotus as a metaphor. In the Diamond Sūtra, the metaphor comes first and the Dharma after; here it provisionally conforms to this, hence it says "therefore", etc.
