次正釋五重玄義者，先列、次釋。釋中先判、次正釋。初判中二：初列、次判。判中又二：初通約諸經，次正約今經。初文三：初釋名，次「如此」下出體，三「例眾經」下引例。初二可知。三舉例中云「例眾經之初」等者，舉經初通序五義以為例釋。

Next, as for directly explaining the fivefold profound meaning: first listing, next explaining. Within the explanation, first classifying, next directly explaining. Within the initial classification, there are two: first listing, next classifying. Within classifying, there are also two: first generally relying on all sūtras, next directly relying on the present sūtra. The first text has three parts: first explaining the name; next, from "such as this" downward, identifying the essence; third, from "drawing analogies from all sūtras" downward, citing analogies. The first two can be understood. In the third, citing analogies, where it says "drawing analogies from the beginning of all sūtras" and so forth: it cites the five meanings of the general preface at the beginning of sūtras as an analogous explanation.
