次開章別釋，中二：列、釋。釋中初釋名自二：初列，次釋。釋中初釋名又二：先總立名者，謂感應通論；次別釋者，謂感應二字各具三義。初文者，如《勝鬘經》。勝鬘夫人是末利之女，末利及王既信佛已，以書與女。女得書已即對使者而說偈言：

In the explanation, the initial explanation of the name itself has two parts: first, listing; second, explaining. In the explanation, the initial explanation of the name also has two parts: first, establishing the name generally, meaning discussing stimulus and response together; second, explaining specifically, meaning that each of the two characters "stimulus" (gan) and "response" (ying) possesses three meanings. The first part is as in the Śrīmālādevī Sūtra. Lady Śrīmālā was the daughter of Mallikā. After Mallikā and the king had come to believe in the Buddha, they sent a letter to their daughter.
