Next, in the wonder of lands, the textual division is as before. Within the differences in the traces, there are also two parts: first, based on other sūtras; second, based on the trace section of the present sūtra. In the first text, among the differences of the four lands, where it says: 'Or stating that in the west there is a land named Unconquered,' the Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: 'Past thirty-six Ganges sands to the west, there is a land named Unconquered.' It also says: 'The worlds of the ten directions each have Śākyamuni's pure land.' In the Śūraṅgama it also says: 'The World-Honoured Śākyamuni has a pure land named One Lamp-Light, which is Śākyamuni's original land.' This is also a statement within the traces. As for the 'land of eternal quiescent light,' there are also two: first, indicating it; second, explaining it. Just as in the origin section, the bodhisattvas who welled forth from the earth abide in the empty space below; having emerged from the earth, they also ascend to the wondrous seven-jeweled stūpa in empty space. Empty space in both places signifies quiescent light. Regarding 'The principle of quiescent light is all-pervading, like a mirror or a vessel,' and so on, it is like the deities sharing food from a jeweled vessel, as noted in the third fascicle of the Zhiguan. From 'The threefold transformation of the land may be seen as the purity of common abode' down to 'expediency with remainder,' if the purity of the threefold transformation is considered according to the land, it resembles the pure common abode; if considered according to moving humans and deities to other lands and having purely jeweled trees and jeweled lion thrones with only Buddhas and bodhisattvas, then it resembles expediency with remainder, which is why the word 'or' is inserted. According to the text, it should also resemble the realm of true reward without obstruction.
