Tenth, in explaining the marvel of benefit, it also first briefly establishes benefit, with the upper clause establishing and the lower clause explaining. Next, from "If in the traces" downward, clarifying the differences in the traces: what is briefly listed here should fully correspond to the seven benefits and ten benefits mentioned in the previous text. As for "down to increasing on the path," and so forth: although in terms of the sūtra it is the origin gate, since it points to the origin from within the traces of the present age and names it the origin gate, we know that today precisely pertains to the benefit in the traces; down to everything after the realization of the origin being called the intermediate—if those who attained benefit through the revealing of the origin in the intermediate still constitute trace benefits, how much more so today? From "Through the traces" downward, it again raises the characteristics of the origin's benefit; since the root text is brief, one also measures the traces to know the origin. Therefore, from "origin of origins" downward, it clarifies that the characteristics are manifested, fused, and identical: although the many traces are numerous, they take the origin as origin, hence it says "origin of origins." The events of the origin have already passed; if one does not borrow the traces, how could one recognize the origin? It is like pointing to the sky by brushing aside the shadow—this is precisely the meaning.
