Fourth, within refuting that there is no praise or censure, there are four [parts]: first, citing the reprimand of wisdom; second, from "Furthermore, the thirteenth..." downward, citing the reprimand of the teaching; third, from "Furthermore, it says..." downward, refuting by citing the loss of the teaching's aim; fourth, from "How could there be..." downward, he concludes. In the second text, saying "not seeking food from a great master," etc.: the sūtra states, "You are superior persons and should seek the superior Dharma; you should not despise yourselves and abide only in an inferior position, nor should you be like that, clinging to branches and leaves, or familiarly engaging in tasks like a dog," and so forth. In the third, citing the loss of the teaching's aim, saying "seeing an elephant," etc.: the establishment of the Hīnayāna teaching originally had its sights set on the Mahāyāna; abiding in the small and forgetting the great is truly unwise. The fourth, concluding, is as in the text.
