三引證者，近以迹門尚得為昔，況伽耶已前？已被開者自是一邊，若據未曾開會者，自退大已來小起已後，皆名為昔。

Third, regarding citing proofs: even the near trace gate can still be taken as the past; how much more so before Gayā? Those who have already been opened naturally belong to one side; if based on those who have not yet been opened and united, from the regression from the great onward and the arising of the small thereafter, all are called the past.
