次「文云」下證用，中亦二：初引、次釋。初文二：初引釋伏疑文正證，次引〈方便品〉略開權文以助成，即化終為久。次釋中前引經文但云三乘，以三乘義含故今釋出。若五若七但是開合異耳。「五」開人天，「七」開菩薩，「九」合菩薩復開四趣，若不開人天四趣，斷九法界上佛法界疑不盡。

Next, from "The text says" onward verifies the function, which also has two: first, citing; next, explaining. The first text has two: first, directly verifying by citing the text resolving the concealed doubt; next, assisting and completing it by citing the text in the "Expedient Means" chapter that briefly opens the provisional—that is, making the end of conversion long-lasting. Next, in the explanation, the previously cited sūtra text only says "three vehicles"; because the meaning of the three vehicles contains [more], it is now explained. Whether five or seven, it is merely a difference of opening and combining. "Five" opens humans and devas; "seven" opens bodhisattvas; "nine" combines bodhisattvas and further opens the four destinies. If one does not open humans, devas, and the four destinies, one will not exhaust doubts regarding the nine dharma realms above the Buddha dharma realm.
