次明引文意中「所以引二文」等者，序及流通。於中又二：先正明引用所以，次明不引所以。初二文之中引其要意，燈明佛事謝在過去其事已定，故文殊引來釋彌勒之疑。今釋迦佛說本迹竟，總撮樞要付諸菩薩。

Next, clarifying the intent of citing the passages, in "The reason for citing two passages" and so forth, refers to the preface and the dissemination. Within this there are again two: first, directly clarifying the reason for citing; next, clarifying the reason for not citing. In the first two passages, their essential points are cited. The Buddha affairs of Candrasūryapradīpa have passed away into antiquity and their matters are already settled, so Mañjuśrī cited them to resolve Maitreya's doubt. Now Śākyamuni Buddha, having finished explaining the origin and traces, comprehensively grasps the pivotal essentials and entrusts them to the bodhisattvas.
