Next, the extensive explanation itself has three parts: first, extensively explaining sentient-being dharmas, which itself has two parts: listing the numbers, and next, explaining them. First, in listing the numbers, there are two parts: first, discussing the increments of numbers across the various sūtras in general, and next, specifically in terms of the present sūtra. First, regarding the sūtras in general: here, the explanation of dharmas establishes only three gates, while the explanation of the wondrous establishes ten each for origin and traces; as the text below generally explains the number of the wondrous: "In the three of origin and traces, each has ten, and within the ten each has relative and absolute differences, thus there are one hundred and twenty layers of the wondrous." One should know that the enumerations of dharmas listed across the various sūtras are tentatively spoken in terms of incremental numbers; according to their principle, one must discuss the four teachings. Within the four teachings, each has thirty coarse dharmas and thirty wondrous dharmas in the traces. Further, discussing coarse and wondrous in terms of the five flavors, together with combining, sole, confronting, and帶 [including], incremental numbers are generated based on these dharmas, beginning from one dharma up to hundreds of thousands, because they do not go beyond the dharmas of mind, Buddha, and sentient beings. The characteristics of incremental numbers are briefly as in the sixth fascicle of the commentary to the Zhiguan. Thus, differences in capacities and preferences cause variations in increase and decrease. Therein are also two parts: first, briefly up to three, and next, broadly by analogy up to hundreds of thousands.
