Regarding the teachings: manifesting the divine eye in reliance on dhyāna-meditation belongs to ordinary persons and non-Buddhists. Manifesting the divine eye in reliance on uncontaminated concrete dhyāna is the meaning of the Tripiṭaka [teaching]. Manifesting all practices in reliance on uncontaminated wisdom that grasps phenomena as empty, and manifesting the divine eye in reliance on all practices, is the intention of the shared teaching. Manifesting the fleshy eye in reliance on scattered good, the divine eye in reliance on concentration, the wisdom eye in reliance on the true, the Dharma eye in reliance on the provisional, and the Buddha eye in reliance on the middle is the intention of the distinctive teaching. Manifesting the divine eye in reliance on the real mark—where the divine eye is identical to the Buddha eye—is the intention of the perfect teaching. Furthermore, cultivating the fleshy eye in reliance on scattered good and the divine eye in reliance on concentration is the Tripiṭaka intention. Cultivating the fleshy eye and divine eye in reliance on emptiness is the shared intention. Gradually cultivating the five eyes is the distinctive intention. Cultivating the five eyes non-gradually is the perfect intention.
