10.72

「囑」是佛所付囑，「累」是煩爾宣傳，此從聖旨得名，故言「囑累」。「囑」是頂受所囑，「累」是甘而弗勞，此從菩薩敬順得名，故言「囑累」。「囑」是如來金口所囑，「累」是菩薩丹心頂荷，此從授受合論，故言「囑累品」也。是故如來躬從座起，申手摩頂授以難得之法，大眾曲躬合掌，如世尊勅當具奉行殷勤授受，故名「囑累品」也。

"En-" (zhu) is what the Buddha entrusts; "-trustment" (lei) is burdening them with its proclamation; this derives its name from the holy intention, hence it is called "entrustment" (zhulei). "En-" is receiving the entrustment upon the crown of the head; "-trustment" is accepting it gladly without wearying; this derives its name from the bodhisattvas' reverent compliance, hence it is called "entrustment". "En-" is what is entrusted from the Tathāgata's golden mouth; "-trustment" is what the bodhisattvas shoulder with sincere hearts upon their crowns; this treats conferring and receiving together, hence it is called the "Entrustment Chapter". Therefore, the Tathāgata personally arose from his seat, extended his hand, stroked their crowns, and conferred the rarely encountered Dharma; the great assembly bent their bodies, joined their palms, and received it with earnest commitment to execute it fully as the World-Honoured One instructed; hence it is named the "Entrustment Chapter".
