Regarding the Buddha's admonition: now, a great being of the Dharma-body accomplishes without being stern, but among the retinue he leads there may be those who have not yet arrived at understanding, so [the Buddha] uses that [setting] to regulate this. Now, the Buddha's body corresponds with the principle; one must not, seeing it as lowly and small, forget its dignity—this is an admonition regarding the Tathāgata's seat. Now, teacher and disciple are complete in wisdom and severance; the teacher having displayed the expedient, the disciple also conceals his reality—this is an admonition regarding the Tathāgata's robe. Now, the circumstantial reward of the land is entirely induced by the direct reward; the Tathāgata looks upon the great trichiliocosm with compassion, whether high or low as appropriate, so one must not look upon the circumstantial reward and neglect the direct reward—this is an admonition regarding the Tathāgata's room. This Buddha, in propagating the sūtra, also commands with these three intentions; that Honoured One's admonitions show that the path of all buddhas is the same. Receiving the instructions: the "power of the Tathāgata" is the power of the seat; the "power of spiritual penetration" is the power of the room; the "power of adornment" is the power of the robe. Having received the great principles of propagating the sūtra and the cardinal essentials of benefiting beings, he is able, without moving from this assembly, to wander and convert throughout the ten directions.
