「說大乘經」者，《善戒經》有七大：一、法大，謂十二部毘佛略也；二、心大，謂求於菩提也；三、解大，謂解菩薩藏也；四、淨大，謂見道淨心（云云）；五、莊嚴大，謂福德智慧也；六、時大，謂三僧祇行行也；七、具足大，謂以相好自嚴得菩提也。六是因大，七是果大，大因大果，合為大乘經也。今將十妙義捒經應可解。

Regarding "preached the Mahāyāna sūtra": the Śīlavaipulya-sūtra has seven greatnesses: first, greatness of the Dharma, meaning the twelve divisions [including the] vaipulya; second, greatness of the mind, meaning seeking bodhi; third, greatness of understanding, meaning understanding the bodhisattva treasury; fourth, greatness of purity, meaning seeing the path and purifying the mind (and so forth); fifth, greatness of adornment, meaning merit and wisdom; sixth, greatness of time, meaning practicing the deeds for three asaṃkhyeyas; seventh, greatness of fulfillment, meaning adorning oneself with the marks and signs and attaining bodhi. The [first] six are greatness of the cause, and the seventh is greatness of the effect; great cause and great effect combine to make the Mahāyāna sūtra. Now, selecting through the sūtra using the meaning of the ten wonders should make this intelligible.
