「爾時彌勒作是念」訖「今當問誰」，是疑念序，文為兩：一、彌勒疑念，二、大眾疑念。彌勒有三念：一、正念六瑞，二、念問誰，三、念文殊。文殊念起，第二念除，唯初念在，但成一疑也。

'At that time Maitreya had this thought' down to 'whom should I ask now?' is the preface of doubtful thoughts. The text consists of two parts: first, Maitreya's doubtful thought; second, the assembly's doubtful thought. Maitreya had three thoughts: first, contemplating the six portents; second, contemplating whom to ask; third, contemplating Mañjuśrī. When the thought of Mañjuśrī arose, the second thought was dispelled; only the first thought remained, forming merely a single doubt.
