第二列菩薩眾者，《釋論》云：「菩薩為出家、在家四眾攝，何故別列？答：『有菩薩墮四眾中，有四眾不墮菩薩中，為其不發心作佛，故今別列。』」同發心求作佛者名菩薩眾。文為六：一、氣類；二、大數；三、階位；四、歎德；五、列名；六、結句。

Second, concerning the listing of the bodhisattva assembly, the Treatise states: 'Bodhisattvas are subsumed under the four assemblies of monastics and householders; why are they listed separately? Answer: "There are bodhisattvas who fall within the four assemblies, but there are members of the four assemblies who do not fall among bodhisattvas, because they have not resolved to become buddhas; therefore they are listed separately now."' Those who collectively generate the mind to seek Buddhahood are called the bodhisattva assembly. The text has six parts: first, category; second, broad number; third, stages and positions; fourth, praise of virtues; fifth, listing of names; sixth, concluding sentence.
