From "The Dharma attained by all buddhas" downwards, there are one hundred and sixteen lines and three phrases, versifying the formal answer above, and this again has two parts: first, from "The Dharma attained by all buddhas" downwards, there are seventy-three lines and one phrase, versifying the section on the four buddhas; from "Now I also am like this" downwards, there are forty-three and a half lines, versifying the section on Śākyamuni above. Regarding the first, there are again four parts: first, from "What all buddhas have attained" downwards, thirty-four lines and three phrases versify the approach of all buddhas above; from "In countless past kalpas" downwards, the second part, twenty-seven and a half lines versify the approach of past buddhas; from "All future World-Honoured Ones" downwards, the third part, six and a half lines versify the approach of future buddhas; from "Those worshipped by devas and humans" downwards, the fourth part, four and a half lines versify the approach of present buddhas. Now, regarding this first versification of the approach of all buddhas, there are altogether three differences from the prose: first, what is in one is missing in the other; second, what appears earlier or later is alternated; third, opening and combining differ. Above, there was praise of the Dharma as rare but no five turbidities; the verses have the five turbidities but no praise of the Dharma. Above, first the Dharma was praised, next its truth was clarified, opening the expedient and revealing the real; here, first the expedient is opened and the real revealed, and afterwards its truth is clarified. Above, exhorting faith and non-falsehood were spoken together; here, exhorting faith is separated from non-falsehood. Privately, I consider that above, Śākyamuni's expedients were used to explain and establish the expedients of all buddhas; in the verses, Śākyamuni's reality is used to explain and establish all buddhas' revealing the One—this is the fourth difference.
