此語不便，請則普請、說亦普說，但上根智利聞法得悟，中根處中聞譬得悟，下根居下聞三得悟，汝當隨義云何隨語（云云）？

Such words are inappropriate. As for requesting, it was a universal request; as for preaching, it was also a universal preaching. It is merely that those of superior faculties, possessing sharp wisdom, heard the dharma and attained awakening; those of middle faculties, situated in the middle, heard the parables and attained awakening; and those of lower faculties, residing below, heard the three [past affinities] and attained awakening. You should follow the meaning; why do you cling to the literal words? (and so on).
