佛大慈悲，何不神力使其住而不聞如《華嚴》中聾啞，何不增狀毒鼓如喜根勝意？
The Buddha is possessed of great benevolence and compassion; why did he not use supernatural power to make them remain without hearing, like the deaf and mute in the Avataṃsaka-sūtra? Why did he not increase the effect of the poisoned drum, as with Xigen (Pradānaruci) and Shengyi (Caritramati)?
