4.99

此就四教，教教中作四門分別。根利遮輕者，聞非空非有門入也；根利遮重者，聞亦空亦有門入也；根鈍遮輕者，聞空門入也；根鈍遮重者，聞有門入也。兩教四門，約小乘分別，兩教四門，約大乘分別，細推可解（云云）。

"This is distinguished in terms of the four approaches within each of the four teachings. Those whose faculties are sharp and hindrances light enter upon hearing the neither-empty-nor-existent approach. Those whose faculties are sharp and hindrances heavy enter upon hearing the both-empty-and-existent approach. Those whose faculties are dull and hindrances light enter upon hearing the empty approach. Those whose faculties are dull and hindrances heavy enter upon hearing the existent approach. The four approaches of two teachings are distinguished with respect to the Hīnayāna; the four approaches of two teachings are distinguished with respect to the Mahāyāna. If one examines this closely, it can be understood (and so forth)."
