5.31

本迹釋者，身子久成佛，號金龍陀，迹助釋迦為右面智慧弟子，始從外道拔邪歸正，示乳味歡喜利益凡夫，次示酪味歡喜利益賢聖，次示生蘇、熟蘇歡喜利益菩薩，今作醍醐入佛知見，歡喜利益學佛道者，如此等歡喜，皆迹所為也。觀心解不復記（云云）。

As for the explanation according to origin and traces: Śāriputra attained buddhahood long ago with the name Jinlongtuo; in traces, he assists Śākyamuni as the wisdom disciple on the right. Beginning from non-Buddhists he pulled them from heterodoxy to return to orthodoxy, showing the joy of the milk flavour to benefit ordinary beings; next he showed the joy of the curd flavour to benefit the worthy and noble; next he showed the joy of the raw and clarified butter flavours to benefit bodhisattvas; now he produces ghee to enter buddha knowledge and vision, giving the joy of benefit to those who study the Buddha path. Such joys as these are all the work of traces. The contemplation-of-mind explanation is not recorded again (and so forth).
