5.38

第五，四眾領解，有長行、偈頌。初經家敘眾喜；次陳供養。「作是言」下，正領解。初領開權，今乃復轉下，領顯實也。偈有六行半，為二：初二行，頌上開權顯實；後四行半，自述得解隨喜迴向也。「我等亦如是」者，如身子之領解，如身子被述成，如身子之得記也。

Fifth is the fourfold assembly's grasping and understanding, which has prose and gāthās. First, the narrator of the sūtra recounts the assembly's joy; next, they present offerings. From the line "speaking these words" downwards is the actual expression of understanding. First, they grasp the opening of the expedient; from "now turning once again" downwards, they grasp the revealing of the real. The verses consist of six and a half lines, divided into two: the first two lines versify the above opening of the expedient and revealing of the real; the subsequent four and a half lines state their own attainment of understanding, sympathetic joy, and dedication [of merit]. "We also are likewise" means: just as Śāriputra grasped and understood, just as Śāriputra received the Buddha's ratification, and just as Śāriputra received the prophecy.
