「久住他國」者，涅槃法界是佛自國，生死五欲是為他國，本求出離而退墮不反，故云「久住」。「或十」是天道，「二十」人道，「五十」是五道，約於一人備輪諸道。

"Having long dwelt in other lands": The dharma realm of nirvāṇa is the Buddha's own land, whereas birth-and-death and the five desires are the "other lands." Originally seeking escape, he regressed and fell without returning; hence it is said, "long dwelt." "Or ten" represents the heavenly destiny, "twenty" the human destiny, and "fifty" the five destinies; this refers to a single person fully transmigrating through the various destinies.
