8.30

「如來滅後其能書持」下，第二，約人歎也。此法在人則人尊貴。「如來衣覆」者，即是修學大忍為衣也，上文云「如來莊嚴」也。「佛護念」者，實相為佛、實智為子，尊崇實相發生實智，即為諸佛所護念也。四信為「信力」，四弘為「願力」，大智為「善根力」也。信則信理，理即法身；志願是立行，行即解脫；善根根固難動，此即般若。當知三力，即是三德祕密之藏，初心棲此與佛不殊，故名「與如來共宿」也。又信力修畢竟空如來智，如來棲畢竟空為舍，此人信力亦學畢竟空，故與如來共宿。「手摩頭」者，此人以願力善力自行權實以為機感，機感名頭；如來以化他權實二智名手，開發前人自行權實之頭，感應道交故言摩頭，摩頭即授記也。

From "After the Tathāgata's extinction, those who can copy and uphold it" downward is the second part, praising in terms of persons. When this Dharma is in a person, the person is noble. "Clothed in the Tathāgata's robes" means cultivating and studying great forbearance as one's robes; above it was called "adorned by the Tathāgata". "Protected and kept in mind by the Buddhas": the true mark is the Buddha, and real wisdom is the child; honoring the true mark and generating real wisdom is to be protected and kept in mind by all buddhas. The four faiths are the "power of faith", the four universal vows are the "power of vows", and great wisdom is the "power of wholesome roots". Faith means believing in principle, and principle is the dharmakāya; determination and vows are the establishment of practice, and practice is liberation; wholesome roots are firmly established and hard to shake, and this is prajñā. One should know that the three powers are precisely the secret storehouse of the three virtues; the beginner mind dwelling in this is not distinct from the Buddha, hence it is called "dwelling together with the Tathāgata". Furthermore, with the power of faith one cultivates the Tathāgata's wisdom of ultimate emptiness; the Tathāgata dwells in ultimate emptiness as his house, and this person's power of faith also studies ultimate emptiness, hence they dwell together with the Tathāgata. "Stroking the head with his hand": this person, with the power of vows and the power of goodness, takes their own practice of the expedient and the real as the capacity for resonance, and this capacity for resonance is called the "head"; the Tathāgata takes the two wisdoms of the expedient and the real that convert others as his "hand", opening and developing the previous person's head of self-practiced expedient and real; since resonance and response interact, it says "stroking the head", and stroking the head is conferring a prediction.
