8.72

二萬菩薩奉命弘經，故名「持品」；重勸八十萬億那由他弘經，故名「勸持品」。

Because twenty thousand bodhisattvas received the command to propagate the sūtra, it is called the "Chapter on Upholding"; because eighty myriad koṭis of nayutas were again exhorted to propagate the sūtra, it is called the "Chapter on Exhortation to Uphold".
