此五百即千二百數，頌中末後一行半總授七百，故是千二百也。又〈持品〉云「我先總記一切聲聞皆已授記」，即指今一行半，非是止授七百聲聞也。

These five hundred are indeed the number of the twelve hundred; in the verses, the final one and a half verses generally confer prophecies upon seven hundred, so there are twelve hundred. Moreover, the "Upholding [the Dharma] Chapter" says, "Previously I generally prophesied that all śrāvakas have already received prophecies," which refers to these present one and a half verses, and is not merely conferring prophecies upon seven hundred śrāvakas.
