9.49

是我方便諸佛亦然，又諸菩薩聞〈壽量〉發願，願我於未來說壽亦如是。此即諸佛道同，亦不偏言一近一遠，故知寄無始無終、無近無遠，顯法身常住；有始有終、有近有遠，論其應迹。用此義望諸經，對緣雖異，終不異也。既了眾經，諸師不可師也。

It is my expedient, and all buddhas are also thus. Moreover, all bodhisattvas upon hearing the 'Lifespan' made a vow: 'May I, in the future, speak of lifespan just as this.' This is the identical path of all buddhas; nor does it one-sidedly assert one [attainment as] near and one as distant. Therefore, know that relying on having no beginning and no end, no near and no distant, reveals the dharmakāya's eternal dwelling; having a beginning and an end, having near and distant, discusses its responsive traces. Looking at the various sūtras through this principle: though they differ in response to conditions, they are ultimately not different. Having understood all the sūtras, the various masters need not be taken as masters.
