Regarding the contemplation of mind: contemplating a single thought of the mind as pure as empty space, unobstructed by the shackles of the two extremes, with great, impartial wisdom that is non-abiding and unattached—this is called ‘leaving the household.’ Sustaining oneself with the contemplation of the middle to nourish the life of the Dharma-body and wisdom is called ‘mendicant.’ Contemplating the afflictions of the five entrenchments as identical to bodhi is called ‘destroying evil.’ All extremes and inversions being nothing other than the Middle Way is ‘frightening Māra’ (and so on).
