小中一人既分四種，今演小令大、以大擬小，何不傳四？況復名通義圓，於理無失。小在三藏，通乘共故亦名為雜，況通菩薩利鈍復雜？

Since one person in the Hīnayāna is already divided into four kinds, now by unfolding the small to make it great and using the great to match the small, why could he not transmit the four? Moreover, the name is shared and the meaning is perfect, so there is no flaw in principle. Hīnayāna belongs to the Tripiṭaka; because the shared vehicle is common [to three vehicles], it is also called mixed; how much more so when bodhisattvas of the shared [teaching] are also mixed in terms of sharp and dull faculties?
