1.65

前直寄三時對感應人，以明種等；今委辨所說用淺深法，故略約四教以簡三段，究而言之，還是因緣妙三段耳。況觀心本迹咸屬因緣，委簡教相具如《玄》文，先約相待以判麁，次約絕待以辨妙。

Previously, we directly lodged it in the three times and correlated it with the persons of stimulus and response to clarify planting and the others; now we minutely distinguish the shallow and deep dharmas used in what is expounded, thus briefly drawing upon the four teachings to screen the three divisions. In the final analysis, these are still the wondrous three divisions of conditioned arising. How much more so since the contemplation of principle and origin and traces all belong to conditioned arising! The detailed screening of the characteristics of the teaching is fully as found in the text of the *Profound Meaning*, which first judges the crude in terms of relative comparison, and then discerns the wondrous in terms of absolute comparison.
