10.84

先釋品名，次釋功德增減，即法師之功德也。初釋品題中亦約四悉，故下結云「備斯四意」。初文世界，次「行者」下為人，次「明識」下對治，次「似解」下第一義。初世界中先指前品共此釋名，故「法師」二字全指前品，亦以五種為法師故，故云「如上」。

First, the chapter title is explained; next, the increase and decrease of merits is explained, which refers to the merits of the Dharma master. In the initial explanation of the chapter title, it also relies on the four siddhāntas, hence the concluding statement below: 'Complete with these four intents.' The first text is mundane, next from 'practitioners' downward is for persons, next from 'clearly discerning' downward is therapeutic, and next from 'resemblance understanding' downward is the primary truth. In the initial mundane section, it first refers to the previous chapter sharing this explanation of the name; hence the two words 'Dharma master' refer entirely to the previous chapter, and because the five kinds are also taken as Dharma masters, it says 'as above'.
