凡諸問答及偈頌長行皆有廣略，此文望上應為三意：一者上廣今略，故今漸初但舉二乘；二者上離今合，故上菩薩別開二酥、別明諸教；三者上旁正具舉則通列三乘，今直論正且語二乘。

All questions, answers, verses, and prose have the extensive and the brief. In relation to what came before, this passage should contain three meanings: first, the earlier was extensive and the present is brief, so the beginning of the gradual here only raises the two vehicles; second, the earlier was separated and the present is combined, so earlier the bodhisattvas separately opened the two curds and separately clarified the various teachings; third, the earlier raised both secondary and primary, thereby listing all three vehicles in common, whereas the present directly addresses the primary and temporarily speaks of the two vehicles.
