3.16

彼結集家語通經者，恭承嚴旨聞必流通，故云而去。今據此經無集眾文，說已入定定起即告，告前所集不散何疑？故《華嚴》等經皆悉先以聲光集眾。

The words of the compiler of that text apply to the sūtra generally: reverently receiving the strict command, having heard it, they must circulate it; hence it says "departed." Now, relying on this sūtra, there is no text of gathering the assembly; having finished expounding, he entered samādhi, and rising from samādhi, he immediately addressed them. What doubt is there that he addressed those previously gathered who had not dispersed? Thus sūtras like the Avataṃsaka all first gather the assembly by means of sound and light.
