3.69

一者方等具足四教，攝法多故；二者唯未見法華座席，是故於法華前從容說之而兼般若。然又諸教六度別者，皆由般若，是故具論。所以若說若觀及言語道斷，諸教有故故須具論（云云）。況所見難量故詳之至五，收羅既廣不出於斯。

First, the vaipulya is complete with the four teachings, gathering many dharmas; second, it is only that the seating mats of the Lotus Sūtra have not yet been seen, and therefore before the Lotus Sūtra it is leisurely expounded while conjoining prajñā. Furthermore, the distinctions among the six perfections across the various teachings all stem from prajñā; therefore they are fully discussed. Hence, both expounding and contemplating, as well as the path of language being cut off, exist throughout the various teachings, so they must be fully discussed (and so forth). Moreover, what is seen is difficult to fathom, so it is detailed up to five [interpretations]; broad though the coverage is, it does not go beyond these.
