言顯密者，爾前遍圓互不相知，今至此經同入一圓，雖密而顯純一味故，但於一座有待不待，但知彰灼授記二乘，顯露分明說長遠壽，於茲一座無不聞知，故名為顯。

As for what is called manifest and esoteric, prior to this, the pervasive and the perfect did not know of each other; now, coming to this sūtra, they together enter the single perfect [teaching]. Although there is what is esoteric, it is manifest because it is purely of one flavor. It is only that within this single assembly there is waiting and not waiting. One merely knows that conferring predictions upon the [followers of the] two vehicles is openly apparent, and preaching the long and distant life span is manifest and distinct; in this single assembly there is none who does not hear and know it. Therefore it is termed manifest.
