「五千起去」等者，無四時之密益，失此會之顯功，此化失時彼土非冀，故應失時。答云：滅後益者是也。

Regarding "the five thousand rising and leaving" and so on: lacking the esoteric benefit of the four periods and losing the manifest merit of this assembly, having lost the time for this transformation, they could have no hope in that land; therefore they should have lost the proper time. The answer stating that there is benefit after [the Buddha's] extinction is precisely this.
