It is simply that the phrase 'shaking attachments and giving rise to doubt' applies in both directions. How so? If located from 'at that time in the great assembly' downward, the intention is to clarify that, due to the preceding brief opening, their old attachments were shaken and their new doubts arose. If located in the three and a half verses, the intention is to clarify that this brief opening shook their old attachments and caused new doubts to arise; hence the prose text is again called expressing doubt and making the request. Since attachments were shaken, doubts arose because of this; now they first express their doubts and only afterwards make the request. Therefore, this text is used in both directions and is not confused. If this text is taken as expressing doubt and making the request, then one should further open the chapter division, saying: 'Briefly opening the three is divided into two: first, the prose together with seventeen and a half verses of praise for the two wisdoms; next, three and a half verses directly and briefly opening and revealing, shaking attachments and giving rise to doubt.' When the text says 'attachments were shaken and doubts arose': because the preceding brief opening shook their attachments, their attachments were shaken; because it gave rise to their doubts, doubts arose. Once doubts have arisen, now they merely make the request; therefore, the head of the chapter merely says 'expressing doubt and making the request'.
