顯教雖無，準理合有，故被洮汰義當斷伏，由根不等斷伏亦殊，致有三根前後不一。

Although absent in the explicit teaching, according to principle they must possess it; thus, having undergone scouring and refining, in principle they should have severed and subdued it. Because their faculties are unequal, their severing and subduing also differ, giving rise to the temporal disparity among the three faculties.
