5.147

前初對乳酪各為四句，簡其大小為障不同，復以四句釋出二酥，通對諸教四根聞法，進否異同，故前初重唯第四句在法華中，餘文多在前之四味，今第五時乃對開三獨一為大。

Previously, first milk and curd were each made into four propositions, differentiating the differences in their hindrances regarding great and small; furthermore, with four propositions the two kinds of ghee were explained, generally correlating with the four capacities of the various teachings hearing the Dharma, their progress or lack thereof, differences and similarities. Therefore, of the previous initial sets, only the fourth proposition was in the Lotus [Sūtra], while the rest of the text mostly pertained to the preceding four flavors. Now, in the fifth period, it is contrasted with the opening of the three and the sole supremacy of the great.
