Sentient beings have possessed the causes of the three realms from beginningless time, and the seeds of delusion do not perish, hence it is said to be beginningless. Therefore, the places of environmental reward are destroyed and formed anew; from the fourth dhyāna upward and in the formless realm, although there is no ruin by disasters, causes and effects successively produce one another—all are beginningless because they are impermanent. However, in the end, it is not as convenient in principle as explaining it in terms of primary reward.
