The 'four-and-a-half verses above [on] I shall' and so forth belong to the door of admonition on deliberation, and should be further briefly divided: The first one verse directly explains deliberation. The next single phrase generally establishes that which is burned, which is views and thoughts. The next single phrase generally explains the force of the fire. The next two phrases briefly explain the characteristics of the burning. The next one-and-a-half verses extensively explain that which is burned; in the text, the two categories of views and thoughts are listed in mixed fashion, no longer in sequential order. The next one verse concludes by comparison, wherein the first two phrases present that to which the comparison is made, and the next two phrases make the actual comparison. Because of lacking concentration and wisdom, they are hungry and thirsty, which is already fearful; how much more so to be further burned by the fire of defilements! Just as upon attaining the contaminated concentration of the upper realms, lacking uncontaminated concentration, one is already burned by a small fire; how much more so falling into the lower desires and being burned by a great fire! It directly points to hunger and thirst as this suffering; therefore one should seek the Mahāyāna to leave it forever.
